37324 to visit Swanage

24 March 2006

The Growler Group, owners of 37215 and trustees of 37324 “Clydebridge” are pleased to announce that we have accepted an invitation from the Swanage Railway for one of our two locomotives to attend this South Coast heritage railway for a period during this years running season.

The Growler Group are acknowledged as the leading Class 37 preservation society. This is the first opportunity for one of the group’s locos to be utilised at a different railway away from our home base at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

37215 is currently undergoing heavy bodywork repairs, so it has been decided to send 37324 “Clydebridge” to fulfil this contract.

Marcus Wheeler (Growler Group Publicity Officer) stated; ‘These are exiting times for the Growler Group as this is the first time we have ventured into locomotive hire. Hopefully this will create more interest in the group and open up the possibility for the hire of our locomotives to other railways in the future.’

‘We would like to pass on our sincere thanks to the Swanage Railway for their invitation and look forward to bringing the locomotive to the line and being able to work together over the period of our stay. No doubt a few new friends will be made in the process and we are excited by this opportunity.’

37324 will be working at the railways Rail Ale Festival on the 19th, 20th & 21st May 2006. It will run on ‘D’ paths on the green timetable on all three days and will work the Travelling Tavern on Friday evening. Fares: Day Rover; Adults £10, Children/OAP £7, Family £28.

Also the week leading up to and the week after the event, 37324 will be available for Driver experience courses at a cost of £180 for a round trip. Please contact the Reservations Office for details on 01929 425800.
