The small team have been tackling an overgrown wilderness and trying to return it to a manageable railway embankment.

This is not very exciting work but you get to see a lot of trains and wave to the many passengers.

Currently we are working on the south side at Middle Stanley and the first picture shows the position at the start of September 2009.

This involved removal of some fairly major hawthorn bushes and an awful lot of brambles.

We cleared the fence line, a slow and labour intensive operation, and scraping out the ditches to avoid further flooding.

We had assistance from the Greenmech flailing machine but the steep banks have damaged the right hand track and this has now broken completely. We are currently awaiting replacement parts to complete the repairs.

After six weeks of work, with the small team, the eastern end of the southern side is almost complete.

In the second photo we can see the progress on the southern side of Tunnel Bridge. The photo was taken at the beginning of October 2009.

The team meet every Saturday from 9.30am, throughout the year.
