Didbrook lies on the famous Roman salt way or Stan Way. The church at Didbrook dates from about 1347 and has a number of unique features. The church has no aisles, yet the tower is built inside the church and does not project out from the Nave as in other churches. There are bullet holes in the west door, which may have been caused when Lancastrian troops sought sanctuary in the church after being pursued by Yorkist soldiers following defeat at the battle of Tewkesbury on 4th May 1471. However, the Yorkists flushed them out and murdered them outside. Alternatively it may have happened during the Civil War, when Royalists sought sanctuary and the Roundheads flushed them out. Another theory is that the locals put up a target on the church door, and used it for practise.
