How about organising a group to travel with us on one of our trains? You may be a member of a Women’s Institute, Rotary, Round Table, Lions, a railway society, a residential home, a school teacher etc., or you may just want to do something different with a group of friends. Possibly you have a special birthday celebration coming up, or an important anniversary. As our heritage railway becomes better known, we see more and more of these groups and once hooked, they come back again and again! They tell us that the sight and smell of the steam train and the thrill of a steam trip through the Cotswolds is a perfect way to spend a day out with friends. The return journey takes about an hour and a half giving everyone enough time to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

You can start your journey at Toddington,  Winchcombe or Cheltenham Race Course. Please note that if starting from Cheltenham Race Course, the platform is in a cutting next to the car park and is reached by a slope.

Generous discounts are available for groups who book in advance, for parties of 10 – 19 fare paying passengers, the discount is 10% off our prices, and for parties of 20 or more, we quote approximately a 15% reduction.

In order to qualify for a discount and also have reserved seats on your train of choice, we ask that you book at least three weeks in advance of travel, and for this purpose you can download a group booking form from the website. Please send it to us with a £30 deposit and you will receive by e mail attachment a travel authorisation for the day in question. If you would like to discuss the details with us, please e mail at Grouptravel@gwsr.com and we will get back to you. All you then have to do is turn up on the day, pay the outstanding amount, and have a great time with us. One final point – we do get very busy particularly midweek in the summer. As it is our policy not to overbook groups on trains at any time, we suggest you book as early as possible in the year as we wouldn’t want to disappoint you.

There is a buffet car on every train serving a selection of snacks and drinks, but if your group would like to pre-book refreshments on the train, please let us know what you would like either by email to the above address or at the time you send in the form. We will then get back to you to discuss details. Alternatively, our tea rooms at Toddington - the Flag and Whistle -  will be happy to provide whatever meal you may require.
