‘Journey Along The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Cheltenham Area Group is pleased to announce that the railway’s volunteer Press Officer, Wayne Finch, will be giving an illustrated talk about the railway at the Prestbury Library, Cheltenham on Thursday 1st April. Starting at 7:30pm, the doors will be open from 7:00pm and the admission price of just £2.50 (non members) and £2.00 (members) will include tea/coffee and biscuits during the interval.

Wayne has been photographing the preserved railway since 1988 and describes the show as being ‘a photographic appreciation of the line, depicting many of the visiting steam and diesel locomotives that have visited the railway in the last few years, in a variety of locations from Toddington to Cheltenham Racecourse’. Wayne will also include a potted history of the line from its original conception and will talk about the future aspirations of the preserved railway, with assistance from the railway’s Chairman, Colonel Bob Stark.

All profits from the evening will go towards the further restoration of the Cheltenham Racecourse Station, which was formally reopened by the Princess Royal on April 7th 2003. The railway has also recently won two major heritage awards in recognition of the re opening of the line to Cheltenham, and this will be an ideal opportunity to come along and enjoy a relaxed evening with some of the volunteer members of ‘The Friendly Line in the Cotswolds’.
