Fire Department news July 2008.

The First Responders on the department have this year so far (up to end of July) done over 700 hour’s service for the local area. They have attended 15 cat A calls (that means that someone’s life was in danger).

During the recent sponsored walk we treated 2 people. 1 wasp sting to the face and a lady who nearly passed out after completing the 10 mile walk. She was put on oxygen and made a full recovery thanks to the fast and efficient treatment she received.

Chris Stockman was also on site when a member of staff fell in the car park and broke her hip. She is making a full recovery after having her hip replaced.

Fire department has put in 1365 hours this year so far. Andy Bint is in the lead with over 300 Hrs followed by Chris Stockman (293), Dave Staniforth (239), and Nick Harper (152) and Jonathon Search (128)

The department also gave first aid and fire cover at RAF Brize Norton’s family’s day and Brizefest. They safety looked after over 3,000 people and helped to make the event a great success despite the fire engine over heating and needing a repair on the way. The department made such an impact that they have been invited back to cover Party in the park in September which is a major outside concert with the central band of the RAF.
