GWR is ‘Independent Railway of the Year’ (posted December 2003)
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway has won the coveted Ian Allan Independent Railway of the Year award for what, in the judges opinion, presents the best all round achievement in meeting the expectation of its visitors. The award
was presented by Richard Bowker, Chairman of the Strategic Rail Authority, to GWR company secretary Bill Hillier at the National Railway Heritage Awards in London early in December. Click here for more information.
City of Truro comes to GWR (posted December 2003)
The first locomotive to have reached a recorded 100mph will visit the GWR for a few weeks in the Spring. The engine, no. 3440 City of Truro, achieved this extraordinary feat 100 years ago in May 2004. Click here for more information.
