THOMAS VISITS THE GWR ONCE AGAIN

Thomas, the famous blue engine, visits the GWR on the 9th and 10th of October 2004. The wonderful stories of the late Reverend A W Awdry have captivated the imagination of generations of children - and are brought alive at Toddington and Winchcombe stations. Visitors can even take part!

Cheer on Thomas or Bertie the Bus as they race from Winchcombe to Toddington. Enjoy Toby wrestling with the troublesome trucks at Winchcombe. Encourage the driver of Thomas to catch a stray fish from Thomas's tank and save a nasty 'boiler' ache! The Fat Controller, Sir Topham Hatt, will be making sure everything runs smoothly.

Travel to see Thomas by train from Cheltenham!

This year, for the first time, the GWR is running a special diesel-hauled service from Cheltenham Race Course station to Winchcombe. There is plenty of car parking at Cheltenham Race Course - just follow the AA direction signs to ‘GWR Heritage Railway’ to the racecourse. Once inside the racecourse grounds, follow the road all the way to the station.

Trains from Cheltenham Race Course station to Winchcombe
    10:40; 12:20; 14:10 and 15:50
Trains from Winchcombe back to Cheltenham Race Course

* The last train from Toddington station departs at 16:20 and connects with this service. When the train arrives at Winchcombe, please cross the footbridge to the other platform to catch the train to Cheltenham.

Media are welcome to visit the railway to take photographs etc. Please contact Ian Crowder on 07775 566 555 for more information.
