Troubled Southern Railway 4-6-0 no. 850 Lord Nelson is up and
running again. It worked successfully on Saturday following repairs
by National Railway Museum staff to a leaking foundation ring in
the firebox. The engine will be running on Sunday 8th June
and, all being well, the following week as well. Keep up with
progress by checking out our Locomotive Roster.
Many visitors to the recent Cotswold Festival of Steam were
disappointed to find that Lord Nelson had only managed the first
day of the festival before the leak manifested itself and, although
not serious, the engine was withdrawn as a precautionary
measure. So if you missed it, you can enjoy this truly
magnificent locomotive hauling normal service trains on the
GWR!
