Last week it was trains and planes during the finale of the
Cotswold Festival of Steam. This week it's cars and planes as
the GWR runs its first Transport Nostalgia Day of the season (there
are two more later in the year). The event is at Winchcombe station
but because the car park will be full of vintage and classic cars
and commercial vehicles of every shape and size, you won't be able
to park there! You'll need to go by train from either
Cheltenham Race Course station (the station is within the grounds
of the racecourse. Follow the Racecourse signs and then
follow the spine road to the end where you'll find the GWR's
station) or from Toddington (10 miles from Junction 10 of the M5,
on the Stowe road, B4077). A full round trip ticket allows you to
enjoy as many trips as you like on the day of issue, and you can
alight at Winchcombe, enjoy the vehicles on display and continue
your journey at a later time.
Refreshments will be available at Winchcombe, as well as at the
Flag & Whistle tearooms at Toddington and of course on the
trains (try a glass of our locally-brewed Rail Ale or if you are on
the chocolate and cream coloured coaches, a range of freshly cooked
snacks as well). There are pubs close to both Toddington and
Winchcombe stations, too.
