If you want to catch
a bus at Toddington on Sunday 6th July you will be spoiled for
choice! There is a fantastic range of single and double deck
vehicles - including the much-loved Routemasters - at the GWR's
first combined diesel train and bus rally. There are buses
dating from the 1940s to the 1970s: the kind of vehicles that will
bring plenty of memories of days gone by.
At the last count,
39 buses had booked to come to Toddington. "This is a
wonderful response - much better than I expected and it underlines
the combined appeal of buses and trains," says organiser Jim
Clarke. "We figured that given that most buses are powered by
diesel, running the event during the GWR's summer diesel gala was
bound to be a winner!" To get a flavour of what's on show, click

In fact, you will be
able to visit the railway entirely by public transport: if you come
by train to Evesham, there will a classic bus for Toddington
departing from the station after the train from London and Oxford
is scheduled to arrive at 10.14 (if the train is late, don't worry
- the bus will wait for you!). The service will return to Evesham
from Toddington, departing 16.00 in time to connect with the London
service which departs at 16.51.
If you arrive at
Cheltenham Spa you'll be able to travel by classic bus to the GWR's
Cheltenham Race Course station. They will depart from Cheltenham
Spa at 09.30* and 10.30* and returning at 16.15 from Cheltenham
Race Course station.
During the day there
will be half-hourly trips from Toddington to Broadway
(approximately on the hour and half hour) dropping off at the Fox
& Hounds pub in Broadway, and departing from the nearby village
hall. Additional buses could run if the demand is there!
