A passing express disappears in the distance, having passed a southbound freight hauled by a 9F class 2-10-0, no. 92203: a sight once repeated hundreds of times on the British railway network, but can only now be seen on the Great Central Railway. But maybe it could be repeated on the formerly double-track Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway – one day (Photograph Michael Topham, courtesy Steam Railway magazine)

Black Prince has sent a couple of postcards home from the Great Central Railway where it is on holiday for most of October.  It starred in the GCR's recent 'Steam Railway' gala where it looked very much at home handling freight trains.  This coming weekend it will be in action again, in connection with a David Shepherd 'Wildlife & Steam' event similar to that organised on the GWR last year - all proceeds going to the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.

So here are the postcards, provided by courtesy of Steam Railway magazine.  Enjoy!
