BBC Countryfile visits the Honeybourne Line

A BBC film crew spend a day on the Honeybourne Line filming for the popular BBC1 programme Countryfile. Designed to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Great Western Railway, the programme will be broadcast soon. But read on for more and a gallery of pictures taken during the day!
‘Truro’ gleams – but don’t touch the paint!

In its new guise as no. 3717, the National Railway Museum’s celebrated City class 4-4-0 City of Truro was steamed on Monday 26th April for the BBC to film a sequence in a forthcoming edition of their popular Sunday evening Countryfile programme. But the paint was still wet!
‘Truro’ steams over Stanway Viaduct

The first full-length passenger train crossed Stanway Viaduct on Monday 26th April. The impressive 15-arch, 50ft-high structure carried freshly-outshopped City class 4-4-0 no. 3717 City of Truro and a five-coach train for the BBC and underlining the progress that the railway is making in its expansion

Visitors to Toddington station can hardly huge miss the cream-coloured building that overlooks the car park that now sports a fine sign proclaiming that it is the ‘David Page Shed’. But what goes on in there? At present it’s not possible to take visitors around the shed for health and safety reasons so here is a glimpse at what’s going on inside…

Regular visitors to the Honeybourne Line will notice a large sign resembling in shape, a Great Western locomotive name plate identifying the locomotive shed at Toddington as the ‘David Page Shed’.
