2012 Timetable
Although work is still continuing in rebuilding the embankment
just north of Winchcombe, we will be running a full service of
trains in 2012. We have been delighted with the response to our
decision in 2011 to run two train services, that we will be running
similar services in 2012 starting with extra services on our
northern stretch for the February half term.
As for 2011, our services between Cheltenham Race Course and
Winchcombe will be mainly steam hauled and our service from
Toddington will be by 1960's diesel rail cars.

When you come to our railway you are stepping into the past.
This is an all weather attraction so no matter whether it is
pouring with rain or a lovely sunny day you can still experience
the thrill of steam or a DMU.
And remember:
- Car parking is free - something that usually adds to the
expense of a day out
- Dogs are free - but please not on seats!
- Children of all ages are free on our Service B from Toddington
and up to the age of 5 on our Service A steam service from
Cheltenham Race Course and Winchcombe
- By buying a combined ticket to travel on both lines you not
only get great value but the ticket is valid for two consecutive
dates of running.
So - more information about our two travel opportunities:
Our main travel experience - SERVICE A - is a
trip from Cheltenham Race Course to Winchcombe by steam train. This
is a 14 mile round trip through the glorious Cotswold countryside
with views stretching across to the Malvern Hills, the Black
Mountains of Wales and even to the Shropshire Hills. And on a clear
day there is a spectacular view of Tewkesbury Abbey.
Whilst relaxing with a drink and maybe a snack from the
restaurant car, you will pass Gotherington Halt and then travel on
through a 693 yard long curved tunnel before arriving at
Winchcombe. There is a short break at Winchcombe - watch the
locomotive running round and perhaps visit our model railway or our
1950's style coffee shop, before travelling back. Or even break
your journey there and walk into Winchcombe itself ( two thirds of
a mile). When back at Cheltenham Race Course why not visit our GWR
shop?
So - Take the "A" train
Price details are here
Or why not try - SERVICE B - this is a 9 mile
round trip from Toddington to Laverton by a 1950's refurbished
diesel railcar or DMU, which goes via Hailes Abbey and the famous
15 arch Stanway viaduct. There are great views of the North
Cotswolds and the vale of Evesham from all directions in the
railcar and you will even be able to spot examples of medieval
ridge and furrow cultivation. This is a 30-35 minute round trip but
please note passengers may not disembark other than at Toddington.
At Toddington we have our well known Flag and Whistle tea room, and
there is our shop, a small museum and an excellent garden centre
adjacent to the station car park.
Price details are here
But best of all - how about 2 complete days out with
us!! If you purchase a freedom of the line rover ticket
you will have unlimited travel on both stretches of the line for 2
consecutive train running dates. You can then spend as long as
you like riding up and down as well as have lunch in the Flag and
Whistle or have a picnic in the picnic area, buy a plant or two in
the garden centre whilst the children play in the play area,
purchase a present to take home from the shop at Toddington or
Cheltenham Race Course, and have drinks and snacks on the steam
train or in the coffee shop at Winchcombe. A great day out
- and with such a discounted price, not expensive!

All tickets may be purchased on the day of travel or in advance
via the website subject to a small booking fee.
One carer may travel free with a fare paying registered disabled
person.
Special rates apply for pre-booked groups - see the Group bookings page.
