Traffic - guards/ticket inspectors
article by: Garry Owen
It is normal to start your hobby on the train by training as a
Travelling Ticket Inspector or T.T.I. Although you will need
training to cover what you will need to know and do in the very
rare event of an on-train incident you will start by checking
tickets under the guidance of an experienced volunteer. You will
have the ability to mix with the general public and be confident
with them.
Guards are responsible for the safety of their train and its
passengers, so are experienced volunteers who have been well
trained in their task. This is a normal promotion route for a
T.T.I. You will need the ability to work as a team member, with the
general public and on your own.
