Following our summer heritage diesel gala and open day, this autumn we are again holding a diesel running weekend using our magnificent fleet of heritage diesel locomotives dating back to the early 1960s. We hope you will come and enjoy the sight and sounds of a bygone age with our collection of vintage diesel locomotives and come and look around our carriage maintenance facilities at Winchcombe.
There will be something for everyone - for families looking for an enjoyable day out as well as for the railway and diesel traction enthusiasts. Our summer Heritage Diesel Weekend and Open Days have established a reputation for being a friendly, quality event and we hope this additional diesel running weekend albeit a smaller scale event than the summer gala weekend, will continue in the same vein.
The majority of our fleet of heritage diesel locomotives are now well passed their 50th birthdays (our oldest is 58!), so the event also reflects the history of British electrical and mechanical engineering from the 1950s and 1960s - a time when the UK was still at the forefront of locomotive technology and exported such railway locomotives all over the world. At Toddington, you will be able to photograph the locomotives in the yard when they are not working trains. At Winchcombe, our popular Carriage and Wagon workshops will be open for visits so you can view our new facilities for maintaining and overhauling our carriages to a high standard.
More details, including timetables and loco allocations will be published when they become available.
For this event, normal ticket prices apply so why not save time and book your All-day rover Ticket now?
