IMPORTANT NOTICE -
Owing to the ongoing coronavirus issue and following government advice, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway has taken the decision to cancel the Cotswold Bricks and Trains Weekend event on Sat 8th & Sun 9th August . We apologise for the disappointment and appreciate your understanding.
Following on from our successful Bricks event last year, August 2020 will see our fourth year of collaboration with Southern Lego Train Club. A chance for new and old fans of those small plastic bricks to be suitably excited and enthralled with the displays. Yes, another LEGO® event is coming to the GWSR; we will be holding a brick exhibition (LEGO® bricks to you and me), at Toddington over the weekend of 8th & 9th August 2020
Be enthralled by the expertise of our exhibitors whose dexterity and expertise will be providing the amazing displays, many of them new to this exhibition. There will be demonstrations and a chance for our smaller visitors to have a go at building their own brick structures.
The exhibition will be open from 10:00 until 16:00 each day. Train Travel will be available on our standard services at the normal fares; a train travel ticket does not include entrance to the Bricks Events. The prices for the Bricks Exhibition are £5 per adult or senior, £4 per child (5 to 16, under 5s free). Train Travel tickets available at all of our stations as normal and Bricks Exhibition tickets can be purchased only on the day at the entrance to The Exhibition Marquee in the main car park at Toddington Station.
As an extra special treat, on the Saturday 8th August, there will be a free display illustrating how we go about restoring heritage steam and diesel locomotives and on the Sunday 9th August in addition to the displays, you can go behind the scenes in our workshops. Click here for more information about our Introduction to Heritage Engineering Skills Weekend and how you can become involved.
Free parking will, as always, be available but, at Toddington, in the overflow car park and also at Cheltenham Race Course Station. There is also parking in a pay and display car park adjacent to Broadway Station.
Why not travel from Cheltenham Race Course by steam train and make a great day out of it? We are operating the very popular combination of 2 diesel hauled trains and 1 steam hauled trian along the full length of our 14.5 mile volunteer run railway, with train departure times in accordance with our normal Green Timetable.
In addition to the exhibits, there will also be a number of selected traders selling Lego® bricks, kits and other accessories and mini figures to enable you to build up your own sets.
Our GWSR Toddington shop will be offering its usual amazing range of gifts and other items, and the Flag and Whistle Café will of course also be open as normal providing snacks, meals. Ice creams and drinks.
So it is Bricks in August at The GWSR! Put it in your diary now and make sure you do not miss this excellent addition to a day out on the GWSR. And to get the most out of your day, arrive early!!
