IMPORTANT NOTICE -
Owing to the ongoing coronavirus issue and following government advice, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway has taken the decision to cancel the Halloween Steam and Scream event on 31st October.
We apologise for the disappointment and appreciate your understanding.
Get ready for Halloween with our ‘Steam and Scream’ event on Saturday 31st October. Join the ‘Spooky Special’ train at Broadway, Toddington or Cheltenham Race Course Station and get in the mood with our special Halloween puzzle booklet – it will be available from our booking offices so please ask for your copy. But hold on tight - you never know what might happen as you make your way through the haunted Greet Tunnel on the approach to Winchcombe from Cheltenham!
Winchcombe Station is the focus for this spooktastic event - watch out for the Wicked Witch of Winchcombe on the platform. Beware of the phantom train rushing through the station as you listen to a ghost story in the Haunted Waiting Room, and you can also try your hand at our Ghost Hunt, looking for the 16 pictures of ghosts hidden around the station; there’s a small prize for everyone who takes part.
Why not come dressed for the occasion? Wear your scariest Halloween outfit and you will have the chance to win a small prize for the Best Halloween Costume on each train – there will be separate prizes for children and adults, so let your imagination run riot! When you arrive at Winchcombe Station the Wicked Witch will judge the competition.
Don’t forget to visit the Witches’ Cavern - our free indoor Halloween craft activity centre on Platform 1 at Winchcombe. You can make your own Halloween mask, hairy spiders and bat clips, or try our popular temporary tattoo stickers and make a spooky jigsaw, plus stencils and puzzles to keep you busy until it’s time for your next train journey.
Before you leave, why not try the Halloween themed snacks in the 1950s style Coffee Pot Café? There is very limited car parking at Winchcombe so our advice is not to try and instead enjoy travelling by train from one of our other stations.
Normal fares and our Red Timetable apply at this event but all Halloween attractions are FREE.
You can save time on the day by buying your all-day rover ticket on-line in advance. Click on the 'Book tickets now' button below and change the calendar to October, then buy tickets for 31st October.
