A new station shop at Broadway was officially opened on Saturday, 8th July, at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR), during the second day of the railway’s annual Summer Heritage Diesel Gala. The official opening, which took place at 11:30, was attended by GWSR PLC President Pete Waterman and some of the GWSR PLC directors.
The new shop, situated on platform 1, offers visitors to Broadway the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of items, including souvenirs, gifts, books, GWR branded merchandise and model railway-related products.
Richard Johnson, GWSR PLC Chairman, commented: “It's delightful to have been asked to open our second retail shop, at Broadway. Our retail operations make a considerable financial contribution to helping us run our railway.”
Julia Harwood, Shop Manager, commented: “I am really delighted that we have our second shop at Broadway. Lots of our passengers have asked for us to have a shop here for a while, and it is already proving popular.”
