Bricks and Trains

This weekend (10-11 August) sees the Cotswold Bricks and Trains Weekend.  It’s the railway’s third such event and guaranteed enjoyment for youngsters and grown-ups.

The show is organised by the Sothern Lego Train Club, who are offering an astonishing range of mainly railway-themed Lego displays as well as demonstrations and a chance for youngsters to have a go at building their own structures.

Teddy Bear Tuesdays

All Tuesdays throughout August present a chance for your favourite teddy bear to enjoy a day on the wonderful GWSR’s line between Cheltenham and Broadway.

A Teddy Bear Special diesel railcar will be running throughout the day (check the RED TIMEDABLE for departure times of the Diesel Railcar) – there will already be plenty of teddies large and small on the train!

Activities centre on Winchcombe station (any train will take you there).  Bring a teddy and you get a free activity book, a special quiz from booking offices and at Winchcombe join the teddy bear hunt or joint he Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Graham Radband, the GWSR’s commercial director commented: “August is the height of summer and both the Bricks and Trains and Teddy Bear Specials have huge family appeal.

“Most people – whether they are nine months old or 90 years had, had or even still have, a teddy bear and Teddy Bear Tuesdays celebrates the special place these lovable toys have in our hearts.

“And the tiny bricks are that can be built into the most amazing creations are a source of wonder for most families, too.  Visitors coming on 10th and 11th August will be astonished at the working trains and other objects made from these incredible little bricks.

“It’s our third Bricks and Trains event – and it’s bigger and better than ever!”
