There is something rather special going on at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) this weekend (13-15 June) - the Real Ale and Steam Festival, organised in conjunction with the North Cotswolds branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CaMRA).
• Three locomotives bring total to 11 for ‘Railway 200’ celebration • Two tiny industrial locomotives of mid-Victorian origin • A wartime locomotive that saw military service
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) line-up for its Cotswold Festival of Steam, which takes place over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, 24-26 May, has changed with one Bulleid light Pacific in original condition, being exchanged for another.
The ‘beauty’ in question is ‘O1’ class 0-6-0 steam locomotive no. 65 which was built for the South Eastern Railway (later the South East & Chatham Railway) in 1896.

17 March 2025: The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) is welcoming youngsters to its award-winning Cotswold Festival of Steam (24-26 May) on the Bank Holiday Monday, 26 May. The event celebrates ‘Railway 200’, a year-long nationwide celebration of the bi-centenary of modern railways.
