Join us for a journey through the Cotswold Countryside enjoying Fish & Chips onboard one of our vintage trains.

Park in our large free car park, board the train and travel through the beautiful Cotswolds in your reserved seat. Whilst our waiting staff tend to you at your table supplying for soft drinks, beers, wines, teas and coffee. We regret we are unable to accept card payments; we are a rural line running up against the Cotswold escarpment where mobile service is limited and sketchy. So please bring cash with you.

Please be aware that we do not offer children's tickets and do not recommend this service for children.

Seats on all of our fish and chip trains must be booked in advance. And past experience shows that the tickets sell out very quickly.

Fish and Chip Specials

On arrival at Toddington you will be met by the train manager how will advise you in which coach your seats are located.  Trains depart from Toddington platform 1 at 7.00pm promptly. The fish and chips are being cooked on site at Winchcombe and will be served to your table whilst the train remains at Winchcombe, please do not leave your table unattended incase we miss you out. Once everyone has been served the train departs onwards to Cheltenham Racecourse Station this is where the ice creams will be served. Waiter service will be available on the train for soft drinks, beers, wines, teas and coffee. You will be back at Toddington soon after 9.15pm. The fare (including a large portion of fish and chips and ice cream) is £33.00. There is an additional charge of £1 for posting printed tickets.

Booking and Journey Details

Seats on all of our fish and chip trains must be booked in advance. The last date for booking is ten working days before the train departs. However, please be aware that the trains are often fully booked several weeks before departure.  Please note that there are no concessionary rates for these trains.

We allocate all seating in advance on these trains so if you want to be seated with other passengers who have booked separately please let us know by email at fishandchips@gwsr.com.  

If you are unable to book online please telephone the railway at 01242 621 405 before sending a cheque so that we may reserve your seats. You may also pay by card on the telephone.

Passengers are asked not to bring their own refreshments on to these special trains.

Dogs, other than assistance dogs, are not allowed on the trains.

Dietary needs

These trains are run as fish and chip specials and we are unable to offer alternative food as a matter of routine.  However, we can cater for those who cannot eat fish and who indicate this at the time of booking.  In these circumstances we can arrange for a sausage and chips or halloumi to be supplied in place of fish.  We cannot offer any other alternative meal.

Those with a gluten intolerance may request batter-free fish. Please note that we, like our supplier, are unable to guarantee that any food supplied is 'free from' allergens or specific ingredients such as gluten.

Passengers accessibility requirements

We are able to accommodate passengers with mobility difficulties or who are wheelchair users on the fish and chip train but suitable seating is limited.  Please contact us by email to fishandchips@gwsr.com to outline your requirements before placing your booking so that we can help you enjoy your visit.
